Da Nang Airport SIM Card (2026): Where to Buy & Price
Published

Da Nang is the one Vietnamese airport where the airport itself tells you where the SIM desks are. Beyond that, the picture is thinner than at Hanoi or Saigon: operators, prices and hours come from guides and a handful of travellers. This page keeps the verified part and the reported part apart.
The quick answer
- Da Nang Airport says there are seven SIM card counters in the restricted arrivals area of Terminal 2, near baggage claim.
- The airport does not say which networks or vendors run them.
- Reported prices are roughly 150,000 to 300,000 VND for 7 to 30 days; we have no verified price board.
- If your phone supports eSIM, installing one before you fly skips the counter.
Where to buy a SIM card at Da Nang Airport
Verified: the airport’s official website says you can buy a SIM at “one of the seven SIM card counters located in the restricted area of the arrivals Terminal 2 (near the baggage claim area)”, and notes the counters are only in that restricted area. Terminal 1 (domestic) has its own SIM card and pocket Wi-Fi counters.
Reported: guides say Viettel, VinaPhone and MobiFone are all represented, but they do not agree on branding, hours or positions. One guide says 06:00 to 02:00, a Klook listing says 09:00 to 02:00. A Korean traveller arriving at 2 a.m. describes lit booths and staff calling out to arrivals. Trip.com mentions a counter at the Terminal 1 baggage area. Because these conflict, we are not giving counter numbers or hours.
Da Nang airport SIM card price (reports, not a price list)
| Source type | What is reported |
|---|---|
| Korean traveller (2026) | 150,000 to 200,000 VND for a 7-day Viettel plan. |
| Commercial guide (2026) | Roughly 200,000 VND (7 days), 250,000 (15 days), 300,000 (30 days) for Viettel; VinaPhone about 199,000; MobiFone 180,000 to 250,000. Unsourced estimates. |
| Another guide (2026) | About $8 to $12, with city shops said to be 30 to 40 percent cheaper. |
There is no dated price-board photo or receipt for Da Nang. Ask for the package code, whether the data is a daily or total cap, and when validity starts counting.
What travellers say: registration and the free eSIM
Vietnam requires a passport to register a SIM. One guide estimates 10 to 15 minutes for choosing a plan, registration and activation, and says VND or USD are commonly accepted and some counters take cards, though it advises not to rely on cards. This is a guide, not an observation.
Da Nang has also run free SIM and eSIM offers for arrivals. MobiFone and Sun Group announced 50,000 free Hi Vietnam eSIMs from 12 August 2025: 8 GB for the first 24 hours, with a passport, age 18 or over, an eSIM phone and the Sun Paradise Land and Hi Vietnam apps. We cannot confirm it is still running. It is a free starter allowance, not a full trip plan.
At a counter: ask whether the SIM is registered to your passport, check the number on your phone, and open a web page before you leave. For the wider picture see Vietnam airport SIM cards, prices and the law. Also see our Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat guides.
The alternative: an eSIM installed before you fly
| Counter SIM at Da Nang | Our Viettel eSIM | |
|---|---|---|
| Phone needed | Any unlocked phone | eSIM-compatible phone |
| At the airport | Queue, passport photographed | Nothing to do |
| Registration | Done by counter staff | Set up by our supplier before you travel |
| Activation | Staff check it works | Automatic when your phone connects to Viettel |
| Price | Reported 150,000 to 300,000 VND | $9.90 (7 days) to $19.90 (30 days) |
Our Vietnam eSIM runs on Viettel. Install it on home Wi-Fi; when you land and your phone connects it activates by itself, with no code to dial. Registration is handled by our supplier, so there is no passport scan or selfie on your side. Validity starts on first connection.
| Plan | Data | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Viettel 7 days | 35 GB (5 GB per day) | $9.90 |
| Viettel 15 days | 75 GB (5 GB per day) | $14.90 |
| Viettel 30 days | 150 GB (5 GB per day) | $19.90 |
When the high-speed allowance runs out, data stops; there is no slow-speed fallback.
Need a Vietnamese number? The MobiFone 5-day (30 GB, $7.90) and 10-day (50 GB, $10.90) plans carry a real +84 number that receives calls and SMS for free. They are not active before landing: dial 900 once after you arrive and look up your number with *0#. The 11-day plan (38 GB, $9.90) has 40 minutes of outbound local calls.
If an eSIM does not connect, see eSIM not working in Vietnam.
Which SIM card is best for tourists in Vietnam?
Viettel is the usual pick for coverage, and MobiFone for a local number.
- Counter SIM: any phone, a physical backup, a person to check it.
- eSIM: land connected, no queue, no passport step.
- Free Hi Vietnam eSIM: a short starter allowance if the offer is still running.

- Reported, not verified: operators, prices, hours and payment come from guides and traveller reports and are attributed above.
What we couldn’t verify
- Which seven desks operate now, and who runs each.
- A dated price board or receipt.
- Queue length and time from queue to working data.
- Whether the free Hi Vietnam eSIM offer is still running.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy a SIM card at Da Nang airport? +
Yes. Da Nang Airport's own website says there are seven SIM card counters in the restricted area of the arrivals hall in Terminal 2, near baggage claim. The airport page does not say which networks or vendors run them.
How much is a SIM card at Da Nang airport? +
We have no verified price board. A Korean traveller reported 150,000 to 200,000 VND for a 7-day Viettel plan, and a commercial guide estimates roughly 200,000 VND for 7 days and 300,000 VND for 30 days. Treat these as reports.
Is it more expensive to get a SIM card at the airport? +
Guides commonly say yes, by roughly a third or more compared with city shops, but we found no primary source for a percentage. Check the package code, data cap and validity before paying.
Is there a free eSIM at Da Nang airport? +
MobiFone and Sun Group announced 50,000 free Hi Vietnam eSIMs for international visitors arriving in Da Nang from 12 August 2025, with 8 GB for the first 24 hours. It needs a passport, age 18 or over, an eSIM phone and two apps. We cannot confirm it is still running, so check before you rely on it.
Which SIM card is best for tourists in Vietnam? +
Viettel has the widest coverage, so it is the usual pick outside the cities. MobiFone suits you if you need a real local number that receives calls and SMS. Whichever you choose, make sure a SIM is registered to your own passport.
Does the Viettel eSIM work as soon as I land in Da Nang? +
For our Viettel eSIM, yes: it activates automatically when your phone connects to Viettel and there is nothing to dial. Validity starts at first connection, so installing early costs nothing. Other providers differ; some Viettel eSIM users report activation only completing after arrival.
